The Stadig Genealogy website has been updated to version 4.2 of PHPGED View. This was done to prepare for the next major release coming in a month or so. The update provides for many more interactive interface features and reports. The coming version will have many many more updates.

The message board used at http://ancestors.stadig.org has been updated and provides similar template themes as the rest of the genealogy application. Several of the topics on the Forum have been made sticky to provide users with a walkthrough and light tutorial to get them started.

Christian Christian found Olof Stadigs Great grandparents after glen stadig located his father during a reasearch blitz. Christian has also found an excellent resource that identified several new details and a granddaughter of Olof’s that we were unaware he had. Christian has loaded the names in the genealogy database and continues his research.

The story of the Stadig Genealogy goes back to the 1600s when it is said that the current Swedish King awarded Olof Jonsson Olofsson with the new surname Stadig for his courage, bravery and leadership in militray service. At the time many of the peoples were named similarly… Jon Olofsson, Karin Jonsdotter, Olof Jonsson, so the name base was thin and confusing to say the least. The Stadig family immigrated to Maine in the 1800s in New Sweden, Maine USA.
